Julia Jackson grew up at the winery and has had a hand in it practically her whole life, including picking and sorting grapes as a small child. Her expertise in wine is authoritative. It’s her contention that Sonoma is the very best place for Cabernet, something that taste tests and wine critics back up. A very well-known wine critic, Robert Parker, has given some of Jackson Family Wines Cabernet’s perfect scores nine times. The Cabernet brands he rated from Jackson Family Wines were Le Désir, la Muse and La Joie.
Julia Jackson founded a nonprofit in order to support women who have overcome challenges and went on to become an inspiration to their community. The nonprofit is called Cambria Seeds of Empowerment and through this she awards $100,000 annually. These awards, presented as cash grants, are given to nonprofits who espouse the virtues of women and those who serve as pillars of their community. Serving as examples of women who have achieved themselves, Jackson Family Farms is owned by her mother. Both her mother and sister are established vintners. Additionally, their winemaker Denis Shurtleff is very accomplished in her field and has been with Jackson Family Farms since 1999.
